This is what we are
going to make . Selection Tutorials are a great way to
make some fantastic creations. There are many such
tutorials to be found on the Net .We have written a very
BASIC tutorial in order for you to learn how they work .
First of all we need to make a new Folder to put our
selections . To do this Right Click on your desktop and
click New Folder , I named mine Selections.

Now Click on the Zip
Folder Below

This box should open.
Click Open .

Click on
Actions - Select All

They will all turn Blue
. Now Click on Extract

This Box should appear:
Click Desktop -
Selections (you should see the folder you made )

Highlight your
Selections and click Extract

Now our Selections are
in our folder .
Open Psp 8 or 9 and
lets make sure our Preferences are set right . Go To
File - Preferences - File Locations.
Click on Selections, it is safe to delete
anything that you have in this folder, they remain on
your Pc, all you are doing here is changing the location
of where your selections are.
Click Add

Click Browse

Point to your
Selections folder that you made and click ok

This is what you will
now have in your selection Preferences

Now we are ready to
begin our Tutorial :)
Open Psp 8 or 9
- Go To File - New

Type in 400 x
400

( when doing a
selection tutorial the canvas size must be exact or your
selections will not be placed properly )
Go to Layers -
New Raster Layer and name it mainbody

Now Go To Selections -
Load / Save Selections - Load
Selection from Disc

Look for your Selection named
mainbody
and click Load

This is how your canvas should look now

Click on your Eye
Dropper Icon and place it over your Foreground
Colour ( top one)

This box will appear -
delete the HTML Colour and replace it with
#05C9C7

Click your Flood Fill
Icon
and fill your
mainbody
with above colour

Whilst still selected
- Go to Selections - Float

Now go to Effects
- 3D Effects - Cut Out - Apply Below
Settings making the Shadow Colour
#359998
 

( Make sure Fill
interior with colour isn't ticked )
Go To Adjust -
Blur - Gaussian Blur - Apply below
settings

Now go to Selections
- Select None
We will now add all the
other parts of the selections in the same way :)
Go To Layers -
New Raster Layer - name it legs
Then to Selections
- Load/ Save Selections - Load Selection from
Disc - open leg Selection and flood fill with
same colour as before.
Go to Selections
- Float
Again go to Effects
- 3D Effects - Cut Out - Apply same
settings as before
Go back to Adjust -
Blur - Gaussian blur - same settings as before
Now go to Selections
- Select None
On the same layer go to
Selections - Load /Save selections - Load selection
From Disc and open leg 2 selection
Flood fill with the
same colour
Selections - Float
Apply the same Cut Out
and Gaussian Blur
Selections -
Select None
Go To Layers -
New Raster Layer - name it ears
Now go to Selections -
Load/Save selections - Load Selection from Disc - open
ear selection and flood fill with same colour as before.
Go to Selections
- Float
Apply the same Cut
Out and Gaussian Blur
Selections - None
On the same layer go to
Selections - Load / Save Selections - Load
Selection From Disc and
open ear 2 selection. Flood fill with same colour as
before
Selections -
Float
Apply the same Cut
Out and Gaussian Blur .
Selections -
None
Go to Layers -
New Raster Layer - name it Mouth
Go to Selections
-Load/Save Selection - Load Selection From
Disk - open Mouth Sel
Floodfill with same
colour
Selections -
Float
apply the same
cutout and gauissian blur
Selections -
Select None
Layers - New
Raster Layer - name it hooves
Then go to Selections
-
Load / Save selection - Load Selection From Disk - open
hooves selection
Flood fill the hooves
with # C0C0C0
Go To Selections
- Float
Apply the same Cut
Out but change the Shadow Colour to
#808080
Apply the same Blur
as before.
Now Go to Effects
- 3D Effects - Inner Bevel - Apply below
settings

Selections -
Select None
Go To Layers -
New Raster Layer - name it horn.
Go To Selections -
Load/Save selections - Load Selection From Disk - open the horn
selections - Flood fill with the same colour as the
hooves - # C0C0C0
Go to Selections
- Float
Apply the same Cut
Out Gaussian Blur and Inner Bevel
as you used for the hooves
Selections -
Select None
Go to Layers -
New Raster layer and call it tail .
Go to selections -
Load/Save Selections - Load from disk - open the tail
selection
Flood Fill with the
colour # FFC0C0
Selections - Float
Apply the same Cut Out
but change the shadow colour too
#F38989.Apply the
same Gaussian Blur.
Selections -
Selections None
Go To Layers -
New Raster Layer and call it mane
Go to selections
- Load Selections from Disk - open the mane
selection
Flood Fill with the
same colour as above
Selections -
Float
Apply the same Cut
Out and Gaussian Blur
Selections -
Select None
Go To Layers -
New
Raster Layer - name it forelock
Go To Selections -
Load/ Save Selections from Disk - open forelock
selection
Flood fill with the
colour #FFC0C0
Selections - Float
Apply the same Cut Out
and Gaussian Blur
Selections - Select
None
Go To Layers -
New
Raster layer - name it eye
Selections - Load/Save
Selections - Load Selection From Disk - open the
eye
selection
Flood Fill with the
colour
#404040
Go To Effects -
3D
Effects - Inner Bevel and add below settings

Selections - Select
None
On the same layer
select your Magic Wand Icon
with below settings

Click inside the middle
blank bit of the eye and Flood Fill with white
Selections - Select
none
Layers - New Raster
Layer - name it nose
Selections - Load /Save
Selections - Load Selection From Disk - open the
nose selection
Flood fill with the
colour #404040
Apply the same Inner
Bevel
Selections - Selections
None
Select the Paintbrush
Icon
use settings below

With your Foreground
set to # 404040
Draw the accent lines at the nose, inside ear and
mouth as shown below .

Now go to Layers
- Merge- Merge All
File -
Save As - jpg
