When I was
running the MSN Group there
were many times members
would ask about how to find
various Toolbars etc. So I
thought I would write this
tutorial on how to find
them. You may find some of
the Toolbars and Palettes
are already there, but I
hope this helps to teach you
what to do if you ever lose
them

When you 1st
open your Paintshop Pro
there are a few things you
need to set up. We shall just
cover the basic ones for
now.
This may be
how your WORKSPACE
looks right now (if any of
the following already appear
there, you need take no
further action)

We are going
to add the TOOLBAR
Go to VIEW
- TOOLBARS - TOOLS

You should
now have your TOOLBAR
If it has
appeared across the top of
your workspace and you want
to place it down the side
like mine you can just drag
it with your cursor and it
should dock into place

You add all
Toolbars in the same way. A
good basic one to make sure
you have is the STANDARD
toolbar

Now we need
the MATERIALS PALETTE
Go to VIEW
- PALETTES -
MATERIALS
This is your
Materials Palette

You can also
add your LAYER PALETTE
and HISTORY PALETTE
in this way or you can
wait until you need them

For PSP X (10) you will need
the BROWSER, go to
VIEW - PALETTES
- BROWSER
Lets take a
closer look at the TOOLBAR.
To do this
you will need to open a
NEW IMAGE to activate
the tools.
Go to
FILE -
NEW
You will get
this box

Don't worry
about the settings right
now, just click OK
You will
notice the greyed out tools
are now highlighted.
In our
following tutorials we will
be aiming to teach you how
to use these.
Some tools
may look like they are
missing but they have been
added in categories i.e.
FREEHAND
SELECTION, MAGIC WAND and
SELECTION TOOL are all
grouped together like this

(click the
little black triangle to
select the one you need)
As you get
more experienced you will
learn how to customise your
toolbars the way you want
them
Go to
VIEW -
CUSTOMISE - TOOLS

Just left
click on any tool and drag
it to the toolbar to place
it where you would like it.
To check you
have your TOOL OPTIONS
select any tool and this bar
should appear at the top of
your workspace

You will need
this to select the settings
of your Tools, if it doesn't
appear go to
VIEW -
PALETTES - STATUS
Now you have
it set up I found saving my
workspace was a good idea,
FILE -
WORKSPACE - SAVE
then if I
made a mistake I could could
just go to FILE -
WORKSPACE - LOAD
to get back to where I
started.

I hope this
tutorial helps you to start
your psping
